What Makes Apps Feel Personal

I’ve been trying out a few different apps lately, mostly for watching stuff or just passing time, and I noticed some of them feel way more “comfortable” than others. Like, I open them and everything is already where I expect it to be, and the content actually matches what I usually like. Meanwhile, other apps feel kind of random and cluttered, even if they technically have more features. It got me thinking — what actually makes an app feel personal to you? Is it the design, the recommendations, or something else?

For me it’s a mix of little things rather than one big feature. I really notice when an app remembers what I did last time, like continuing where I left off or suggesting similar content without me searching for it again. Also, notifications that aren’t annoying but actually relevant make a difference. I once came across this explanation — https://www.daylox.com/blog/why-mobile-entertainment-apps-feel-more-personal-than-desktop-platforms/ — and it helped me understand why mobile apps feel more tailored. They kind of adapt quietly in the background. If an app makes me feel like I don’t have to think too much while using it, that’s when it clicks for me.
